REH editorial starter discussion. Prepared by REH to invite genuine community replies. REH starter discussion — UK. First establish the cause. Condensation, a roof leak and penetrating damp need different responses, and more than one problem can exist. Insulation may form part of the solution, but it should not hide an unresolved moisture defect. Ask for an assessment covering the building fabric, heating and ventilation before agreeing a package of work. Join the discussion: Where does the moisture appear, and does it change with weather or household activity? Suggested next step: Get the moisture problem assessed before choosing insulation work.
