A separate home battery is not automatically needed to benefit from scheduled EV charging. A compatible charger, vehicle and suitable tariff may let the car charge directly during cheaper periods. Check the available window, required energy and the tariff’s other rates. Compare that simpler arrangement before adding storage whose cost needs its own justification.
