They can be, but compare the electricity you would use at home with the amount you would export. A household using power mainly in the evening has a different case from one working at home. Ask for a forecast using your roof, annual electricity use and daytime demand. Model solar on its own before adding a battery; one household’s payback figure is not a promise for yours.
