Accreditation for Insulation
When choosing an insulation installer, it is a good idea to check that they are a member of one of the following organisations:
- The Cavity Insulation Guarantee Agency - http://www.ciga.co.uk/installers.html
- The National Insulation Association - http://www.nationalinsulationassociation.org.uk
- The British Urethane Foam Contractors Association - http://www.bufca.co.uk
The British Urethane Foam Contractors Association is the national trade association comprising sprayed and injected polyurethane foam contractors, suppliers of sprayed and injected foam systems and equipment suppliers. You can be assured of the highest standards of quality and service when employing a BUFCA member. The government-backed Cavity Insulation Guarantee Agency provides 25 year guarantees on cavity wall installations in residential and commercial properties (of under 1000 square meters) carried out by its member companies. CIGA guarantees installations against defect in materials and workmanship. CIGA also operate the Cavity Wall Insulation Self Certification Scheme (CWISC), which ensures that cavity wall installations adhere to building regulations. More information on the CWISC is available here: http://www.cwisc.org/. Members of National Insulation Association must adhere to a strict code of professional practice, which ensures quality of service and customer satisfaction. The NIA also assists customers through a complaints procedure should any problems arise with insulation installations carried out by its member companies. It is also advisable to select products bearing the Energy Saving Trust Recommended label, which are chosen for high performance and value for money.
