REH starter discussion — Great Britain; default tariffs; October–December 2026.
No. Ofgem’s cap controls default-tariff unit rates and standing charges; it is not a ceiling on a household’s total bill. Running costs still depend on consumption, location, payment arrangement and system performance. Use your actual rates when comparing heating options, and record the tariff date. Avoid copying a national headline annual bill into a property-specific savings calculation.
Join the discussion: Is your comparison based on your current tariff or an older example from a quote?
Suggested next step: Ask for the running-cost comparison to be refreshed using your actual current rates.
